Created during a 6-week residency in Broglie (Normandy), ABRI is a micro-architecture nestled in a wild clearing along a river. Designed as a platform for contemplating the surrounding landscape, the structure provides a shelter to sit, rest, or shield oneself from the elements.
The project explores the concept of camouflage and visibility: its bright orange hue (a color not perceived by wild boars and deer) stands in stark contrast to the natural environment. The geometric patterns painted on the cladding draw inspiration from pixelated digital camouflage designed to disrupt drone reconnaissance.
Built without ground excavation to respect the natural site, the installation rests on ten 120kg concrete footings. It was manufactured in collaboration with students from the Boismard technical high school and local craftsmen, alongside a program of community workshops organized for local residents.
