ADRIEN FREGOSI - LES MOYENS DU BORD

The International Museum of Modest Arts (MIAM) presents a poignant retrospective dedicated to my dearest friend Adrien Fregosi (1980-2024), who spent the final decade of his life in Sète, cultivating a prolific, deeply poetic practice—at once fragile and powerful, gentle and profound. Rooted in drawing and informed by countercultural movements ranging from graffiti to zine culture, his work blends singular material experimentation with instantly recognizable, endearing narrative motifs. The exhibition illuminates how life’s joys and turbulences continuously nourished his output, revealing an artistic economy built on connection, openness, and catharsis. By presenting his works alongside those of close friends, peers, and artistic figures, the museum traces both an intimate network of affinities and a shared creative genealogy.

My own relationship with Adrien  is inextricably bound to the city of Sète and its topography. It was here that I first met him in 2015, and here that I saw him for the last time in 2023. Visiting him several times a year, we endlessly traversed the city and its surroundings, to paint graffitis, share meals, or simply laugh. He showed me every hidden corner, and today, there is not a single place in Sète that does not resonate with a memory of him.
