Fictions Modestes & Réalités Augmentées stems from an unexplored territory: La “S” Grand Atelier, an unconventional art center nestled in the Belgian Ardennes. Located in a former military barracks, raw/outsider artists regularly collaborate here with contemporary artists.
This partnership fosters an uninhibited, offbeat artistic approach marked by an unabashed belgitude and a fierce desire to move away from narcissistic claims and pathos.
Far from traditional storytelling, Fictions Modestes & Réalités Augmentées immerses visitors in uncharted, fascinating worlds through a cross-disciplinary, collaborative process that disregards labels and categorization. Spanning comic art to less expected mediums, such as video, photography, installation, performance, and digital arts, the exhibition highlights the ongoing experiments and explorations led by the artists of La “S” Grand Atelier and their guests.
