2. STATEMENT
Paul Loubet is a French artist living and working in Valencia.
His artistic practice, which he develops on all scales, encompasses painting, sculpture, publishing, installation and sound. He works mainly from digital archives, old digital maps, diagrams, ui, gameboards, or old electronic objects, reinterpretating the archaic computer and gamer aesthetics with artisanal and technological techniques that he uses in a self-taught way (CNC, matrix printing etc.) to create distopic and paranoid micro-worlds and primitive low-tech inpired objects.
He constantly applies a logic of recycling materials and economizing on form, resampling his own work to gradually degrading the resolution of his pieces.
In an increasingly high-definition world, reincorporating the minimal aesthetics of the already obsolete future from his childhood enables him to touch on subjects as the exploration of virtual worlds, the digitalization of violence or the gamification of society.
He like to call is work LoFi-Sci.
